Opening Reception
On October 5, 2009, the Penn State Center for Eukaryotic Gene Regulation opened its doors in newly renovated space on the 4th floor of North Frear Laboratory.
To mark this occasion, renown biochemist Dr. Ali Shilatifard from the Stowers Institute for Medical Research delivered a special lecture on “Lessons Learned from Yeast about Human Leukemia”.
Following the lecture, a reception was held in the Center for Eukaryotic Gene Regulation, the new home for the laboratories of Drs David Gilmour, Joseph Reese, Frank Pugh, Song Tan and Yanming Wang. The open architecture of the 14,000 square foot laboratory space and the common lunchroom area will further enhance the interdisciplinary research conducted by these groups into the mechanisms of gene regulation and chromatin biology.
